Why Above-Ground Containers

Protection Where Underground Shelters Can't Go

High water tables, rocky ground, rented land, seasonal sites — most of the places that need storm shelters most can't dig for them. SAFETAINER starts with corten steel engineered to survive decades at sea, then adds certified reinforcement, engineered anchoring, secure entry, and ventilation.

The result: a shelter that arrives complete, anchors in hours on concrete or bare ground, relocates when your site changes, and costs a fraction of poured-concrete safe rooms of comparable capacity.

Built for the Most Exposed

Who It Protects

Campgrounds & RV Resorts

Guests in tents and RVs have zero protection. Give them a certified destination when the siren sounds.

Mobile Home Communities

Manufactured-home residents face the highest tornado fatality risk of any housing type. One unit protects up to 60.

Construction Sites

A relocatable severe-weather plan that moves to the next job with you.

Schools & Rural Business

Certified protection without a construction project.

Engineering Trust

Certified on Paper. Proven in Steel.

Every SAFETAINER is engineered by our licensed Professional Engineer and fabricated indoors at our Anderson, Indiana facility — not brokered out. We provide the documentation your permitting office, insurer, or state inspector needs, stamped and signed.

The PE stamp for dirt installation is the differentiator: most certified shelters require a poured foundation — exactly what campgrounds and MH parks can't do. SAFETAINER doesn't.

Shelter Questions, Answered

Is SAFETAINER actually certified, or just "built to" FEMA standards?

Certified. SAFETAINER meets ICC 500 — and our PE-stamped installation drawings cover both concrete and dirt placement, so your site works either way.

How many people fit inside?

A 20-ft SAFETAINER shelters 30 people; a 40-ft unit shelters 60. Multi-unit placement plans are available for larger properties.

How is it anchored without a concrete foundation?

Our licensed Professional Engineer stamps an anchoring plan specific to dirt installation — no pour required. Ask us for the engineering details for your soil type.

Can it be relocated?

Yes — it's a container at heart. When your site changes, your shelter moves with you.

What does it cost?

Units start at $80,000. Request exact pricing for your capacity and site.

Do you deliver outside Indiana?

Yes — we deliver and set SAFETAINER units across the continental US.
